South Campus Location
RVH provides exceptional specialized and inpatient care at its Georgian Drive facility, however, we need to bring outpatient and emergency services and additional care space closer to the growing communities in south Barrie, Innisfil and Bradford West Gwillimbury.
The population of Innisfil and Bradford West Gwillimbury is exploding. According to Simcoe County Growth Plan (Hemson, 2008) the combined population of Bradford-West Gwillimbury, Town of Innisfil and Barrie is expected to increase by 109,000 by 2031. Meanwhile, the population of Innisfil, alone, is expected to double in the next 20 years. A careful analysis of current and projected demographics will play a key role in developing RVH’s vision for the future.
Based on population growth and drive time data, RVH’s Site Selection Committee, which includes community representatives, has narrowed its search to an underserved area west of Lake Simcoe; east of Highway 400; south of Kempenfelt Bay (encompassing the Barrie annexed lands), and south to the 14th line (just south of Highway 89).
