A message from Charlotte and Janice

We know healthcare is a top priority for you and your family. That’s why Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) is charting a course for the future to ensure that high-quality, safe care is available now and for generations to come.

In 2012, RVH doubled in size and introduced new services and advanced technology, including a regional cancer centre, an advanced cardiac program, a child and youth mental health program and expanded kidney care services. However, this expansion only addressed seven out of 12 urgent health centre priorities.

Meanwhile, RVH patient volumes are surging and the population in south Simcoe County is soaring, expecting to double over the next 20 years.

That’s why RVH needs to grow — not just at its current, Georgian Drive location, but by building a second, south campus. To meet our critical capacity challenges and growing population needs, RVH must expand as soon as possible.

We have created a plan that takes a graduated approach, using an integrated two-campus model. As a first step, in December 2019, RVH began providing outpatient services in Innisfil’s Rizzardo Health and Wellness Centre. Next, we will maximize available spaces within the current Georgian Drive campus. Within ten years, we will double the size of the current campus by adding a large inpatient tower and creating a south campus health hub. The south campus will then expand with the addition of inpatient beds, not dependent on an Emergency Department, for patients with less acute care needs. The 20 year goal is a full-service, acute care hospital — with a 24/7 Emergency Department — to serve the residents in south Simcoe County.

Broad and genuine engagement is key to the success of RVH’s planning. There have been over 27,000 engagement interactions to-date and there will be many opportunities for you to learn more about our plan and provide input. Your feedback has guided our process every step of the way and will ultimately be reflected in the expansion of the north campus and development of the south campus.

RVH is your regional health centre. Add your voice to this important conversation as we Plan our Future. Together.

Respectfully;

Charlotte Wallis, RVH Chair, Board of Directors and Janice Skot, RVH President and Chief Executive Officer

July 2018 Report

We know healthcare is one of your top concerns and that’s why RVH is planning for the future; a future which includes, not just determining how to best use the space still available within its current Georgian Drive facility, but planning for a new, state-of-the-art south campus to meet evolving healthcare needs in rapidly-growing Innisfil, south Barrie, and Bradford West Gwillimbury.
